Last year our friends at PEAK Mountain Sports came up with a unique idea of combining a competitive trail running race with a trash pick up. The idea of a "trash race" was literally born on Red Shore trail in Haw Ridge, while PEAK's owner and co-founder stood on the shoreline sickened by the amount accumulated trash. Little did anyone know what kind of impact this wacky idea would have. A Facebook post and a few phone calls later and the 1st Annual Haw Ridge Trash Race was born. In its first year, over 500lbs of trash were removed from the trail and shoreline and the goal for this year is over 1000 lbs. Video from last year: http://vimeo.com/92658514

26th Annual River Rescue - Saturday, April 11th, from 10 am - 2 pm

Help Clean up Knoxville!! Join Blue Ridge Mountain Sports and Ijams Nature Center's for the annual river and creek clean up that takes place at over 50 sites all over Knoxville and surrounding areas. Last year we had over 1,000 volunteers come out and clean tons of trash from more than 50 miles of our local waterways. This event is truly a community effort and we need your help to clean our river. Blue Ridge Mountain Sports will be at the Concord Boat Ramp Site across Northshore Dr. from Lakeside Tavern. We will be focusing on cleaning up the shore around the boat launch area and the Lake Shore Loop Trail at Concord Park. 10:00 am — 2:00 pm come for an hour or stay all day. All supplies are provided. Outdoor Knoxfest April 24th - 26th

The 3-day Outdoor KnoxFest teams up with the Dogwood Arts Festival to showcase Knoxville’s best outdoor amenities with a special spotlight on Knoxville's Urban Wilderness, a 1,000-acre urban playground only minutes from downtown. The weekend is packed with trail rides and runs, bicycling, fly fishing, paddling and much more! Outdoor KnoxFest is produced by Legacy Parks Foundation, a non-profit actively working to make East Tennessee a recreational destination of the Southeast!
